Howl
explores the life and works of 20th century American poet, Allen Ginsberg and his defining poem Howl, the first public manifestation of the Beat Generation.
The film recounts his early years in the 40’s and 50’s, through to that first live performance and subsequent 1957 obscenity trial, employing a range of cinematic techniques evocative of the spirit of Ginsberg and his Beat cohorts.
This is a special pre-release screening of the film and is shown in partnership with the Equality and Diversity Unit at Canterbury Christ Church University, to celebrate LGBT History month.
