NOWHERE BOY, the debut feature film from YBA artist Sam Taylor-Wood, tells the story of John Lennon's childhood in suburban Liverpool.
Imagine John Lennon's childhood. A curious, sharp and funny teenager, growing up in the shattered city of Liverpool. Two sisters vie for his love - Mimi, the formidable aunt who raised him and Julia, the spirited mother who gave him up to Mimi's care at the age of 5. Yearning for a normal family life, John discovers art and the new music flooding in from the US. His genius finds a kindred spirit in the young Paul McCartney. As John's new life and career begins, the truth about his past leads to a tragedy he will never escape.
